She quickly zeroed in on what our core issue was, and logically showed how the thing that I felt was our problem was actually a symptom of the true problem. She then gave me an innovative exercise to fix the root cause.

Since then, as we have worked together I have learned so much about balance, alignment, and self-carriage.

About 2-3 years ago I was looking for someone to help me with my 4 yr old Hanoverian gelding.

When I found Summer McEwan, I was extremely impressed with the service she provided training this very green and unbalanced 4 yr old gelding. Summer was always on time, very patient and kind towards the young horse, building trust and confidence in him.

Summer has brought a passion back into my riding that had disappeared for a period of time. Summer is knowledgeable, patient, and compassionate with both horse and rider. She is able to adjust her teaching to accommodate each one of my horses. When I first met Summer she struck me as a very professional person and a skilled rider and trainer. I had a young horse at the time, which Summer started for me and this horse was later sold, leaving me looking for a new horse, which Summer helped me find.

Summer helped me with this horse and I realized she was far more than professional and skilled, she was also extremely honest and hardworking, attributes sometimes hard to find today. She formulates a plan of training that enhances the horse’s positives and considers each horse to have it’s own special needs, not a “cookie cutter” formula.
